A Season of Improvement in Downtown Chagrin Falls

We’re thrilled to share that a remarkable slate of projects is about to transform our village’s core. While you’ll encounter some temporary inconveniences – traffic shifts, work zones – every effort has been made to deliver safer streets, renewed infrastructure, and a more vibrant downtown. These projects are occurring now due to the combination of contractor availability and grant funding deadlines. We strived to minimize overall disruption. Below you’ll find details on each project and what to expect in the weeks ahead.

Street Repaving (October 6 – 31)

These repaving efforts ensure smoother drives, improved drainage, and long-lasting pavement.

  • Mill & Cleveland Streets: some delays, flaggers; done by October 13
  • West Orange Street: some delays, flaggers; done by October 31

CDFF Week (October 7 – 12)

Our beloved Chagrin Documentary Film Festival remains a highlight-and we’re keeping the show on the road.

  • Festival continues as usual
  • Repaving work ongoing— expect some delays

North Main Bridge Closure (October 13 – 25)

To complete the bridge re-surfacing, the county will implement a full vehicular closure. We’ll share final detour details and staging plans as we near the start date.

  • Finishing early - ahead of schedule
  • East sidewalk to remain open at all times

Stairway to the Falls (October 2 – Thanksgiving)

The iconic stairway by the Popcorn Shop is getting a top-to-bottom makeover. This replacement will improve safety, accessibility, and the overall experience of our Falls lookout.

  • Full replacement for safety and accessibility
  • Final phase may take place in spring 2026

Upcoming Downtown Enhancements

We’re preparing to repave and install pedestrian bump-outs in the heart of our business district. Watch for updates so you can plan your visits and deliveries.
