Safety Committee April Meeting

The Safety Committee will meet Monday evening, April 28 at 6:30 pm in Council Chambers at Village Hall.

We have two items on the agenda: a new rule requested by the Police Department that would prohibit all non-see-through bags 7 by 10 inches or larger from being brought into Riverside Park during Blossom, and a review of designs for curb extensions on Main and Franklin Streets at the mid-block crosswalks to Triangle Park.

Bag Safety Rule

The proposed rule would require all bags larger than 10 inches wide and 7 inches in height to be clear and their contents visible when entering Riverside Park during the Blossom Time Festival or Triangle Park and North Franklin Street during the Taste of Chagrin. Opaque or unclear bags exceeding these dimensions are not allowed and will result in denial of access. Law enforcement officials may search all bags, and non-compliant bags must be removed immediately. Central Shopping District Streetscape

We’ll continue our work related to the Downtown Traffic and Safety Study, with an emphasis on items to be included in the 2026 roadwork and paving program that will start after the Main Street Bridge Rehabilitation Project is complete.

If you want to get up to speed on what we’ve been doing, I’ve written a Safety Committee Activity Recap that covers the last couple of years.
