Village Council Early January Meeting

Council held our first regular meeting of the year with a mix of new and old business, and some very good news for the village.

More Infrastructure Improvements Coming

The village has been awarded $3,500,000 for water and wastewater infrastructure as part of the Thomas R. Carper Water Resources Development Act of 2024, which was signed into law by President Biden on January 4, 2024. This money will go a long way towards repairing and replacing the remaining sections of our century-plus old storm water and sanitary sewer infrastructure.

Legislation

We passed almost everything on the legislative agenda with some discussion and minor revisions.

  • 2025-01 provides emergency dispatch services to Chagrin Falls Township.
  • 2025-02 provides transportation services for seniors.
  • 2025-03 – which declares it necessary to improve Carriage Stone Drive by constructing a sidewalk – will remain on readings.
  • 2025-04 establish a memorandum of understanding with Cuyahoga County regarding Child Abuse and Neglect.
  • 2025-05 supports OML’s challenge to AT&T’s Tariff Application at the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio. This ended up being moot as AT&T withdrew their application the day after.
  • 2025-06 creates a Police Department Employee Wellness Incentive Pilot Program.
  • 2025-07 updates the contract with the village engineering firm to reflect their acquisition by Verdantas.

The next regular Council meeting will be January 27.
